OECD membership a top priority for Bulgaria: Premier

ATHENS (AA) – Bulgaria has deemed membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as one of its top foreign policy priorities, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said Thursday.

Glavchev, who is also the country’s foreign minister, stressed that alongside OECD membership, Sofia would also focus on accession to the Eurozone and the Schengen area, according to the state-run BTA news agency.

Speaking at an OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris, Glavchev said: “The preparation process for Bulgaria’s OECD accession will contribute to our efforts to implement better policies for a better life.”

He also stressed that Bulgaria’s consistent and predictable foreign policy was permanently defined by Euro-Atlantic values.

Speaking on the war in Ukraine, Glavchev said: “Together, we must do more to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity on regional and global levels, including through our support for Ukraine.”
